2006 SURF AVE – RAVEN HALL
The 2006 Surf Ave job site is located on Coney Island, Brooklyn feet from beachfront. As a result, work included provisions for heavy dewatering and control of tidal inflows for pit and cap construction below water table. After general excavation, foundation work began by plugging top of previously installed driven piles utilizing a contractor-designed plug detail created in conjunction with the GC input for efficiency and repeatability. The site work then proceeded with pit, pile cap, grade beam, slab and foundation wall installations. The site is waterproofed with a combination of products by KIM, WR Meadows and Xypex.
Scope of work:
- 3000+ CY of Concrete Footings, Concrete Caps, Grade Beams, Driven Pile Plugs,
Foundation Walls and Ramps on Grade with epoxy coated reinforcing - WR Meadows, XYPEX and KIM Waterproofing Systems
- Excavation and backfill within challenging tidal dewatering conditions
